About Katherine

Katherine Strongwind is a dedicated advocate for Indigenous rights and reconciliation in Canada. She was born and raised in Winnipeg. Katherine has a background in communications and child welfare and has worked in First Nations governance and politics for several years.
She has held various significant roles including the Executive Director of the Songhees Nation, Executive Director for the Treaty One Nation, and as a Ministerial Advisor for both the Ministers of Forests and Jobs, Economic Development, and Innovation. She is also an entrepreneur, mother, and grandmother.
Katherine is also a Sixties Scoop adoptee, and the founder and volunteer coordinator for the 60s Scoop Legacy of Canada, a national non-profit organization that has called for a federal inquiry into the Sixties Scoop.
Katherine’s work focuses on addressing the intergenerational trauma caused by the Sixties Scoop and advocating for the rights and well-being of Indigenous communities.
She is committed to promoting meaningful reconciliation efforts and ensuring that the voices of Indigenous Peoples are heard and respected.
